CRUSH & Government
In the spring of 2017, CRUSH was invited to attend the Governor's Luncheon by the
Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Team members were able to speak to
Governor Doug Ducey about our recent Championship win and show off our team.
After the event, Governor Ducey sent CRUSH a letter of congratulations to our team.
In August 2017, as part of the "Back to School" Tour, Governor Ducey visited our
Sonoran Science Academy campus. CRUSH students showed the Governor their
projects in SSA's engineering class, and took him on a tour of our shop. We were
even able to teach Governor Ducey how to use our lathe. After visiting our shop, our
drive team taught Governor Ducey how to drive and operate our 2017 robot. We look
forward to working more with Arizona State Government in the future.
Pima County Board of Supervisors
In 2016, CRUSH developed a relationship with the Pima County Board of-
Supervisors after our Colorado Regional win. After visiting with Supervisor Miller, May 2016 was declared "CRUSH Month," and team members were recognized at
the monthly board meeting. In 2017, CRUSH was again invited to a board meeting, where the team was recognized for our 2017 Championship win.
After winning the 2017 Houston Championship, CRUSH received recognition from the Tucson mayor. Though we were unable to schedule a meeting, the mayor sent personalized certificates of recognition to each team member, and made an official proclamation in celebration of our accomplishments.
Pima County Superintendent
In the spring of 2017, CRUSH was visited by the Pima County Schools
Superintendent. After seeing our robot and getting a tour of our shop and school,
team members presented to the Superintendent and gave him a CRUSH shirt,
making him an honorary CRUSH member!
